We recently had the pleasure of documenting life in the quaint town of Hutto, Texas.
Located 28 miles outside of Austin, Hutto is a growing suburb in Williamson County with plenty of charm and a quirky hippopotamus mascot.
The mini-doc, “Hippo Loose in Hutto: The Legend of Hutto, Texas,” won first place for “Best Video (Special/One-time)” from the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) in 2023.
The film explores the local legend of how the hippopotamus became Hutto’s official mascot.
Thanks to Allison Strupeck, director of communications for the City of Hutto, for her collaboration on this project.
